I am a very happy lady. I feel like a bird, free all the time. This is a very special time in my life. I have a chance to dance like when I was fifteen, and I am 71 years of age.

I am an emotional person and I accept with resignation my sickness. But I feel much better together with my wife. This Center has helped me. I am very happy here.

At my age of 85, I have time enough to come to this Center to do activities. No matter if I am a little bit sick from arthritis, it doesn’t matter. I am happy to be in this group. I will make a little bit of a contribution.
A mi edad, que ya teigo 85 aon terigo animos para perterecer al coro de este cerito de actividades y clases de picture, y otras tipos de activitdades; siempre hesido una persona adtiva, amigas une excueutro aquejorda ops la arthritis. Me siento contenta de encoritrane en ente grupo para contribiberier a la conficion de un mural.

Growing older feels good. I like to paint and color. I just started painting last year and I love it.

Maria Velasquez, age 65
I am 65 years old, but I don’t feel old. I feel young and happy even with pain from my arthritis. I have my husband, but he is sick. I take care of him with lots of love. The Center helps me. I feel at home in this place.
Tengo 65 anos pero no me siento vieja, claro que todavia estoy joven. Soy alegre apesar de los dolores que me aquejan por mi arthritis y un problema en mi rodilla la cual pronto me operan. Tengo mi esposo enfermi por un strok, lo he cuidado con mucho carino y amor. Este comedor de la pequena Habana ha sido lo mejor, nos ha ayudado, tanto en los ejercicios que mi esposo a diario hace y estamos en casa como toda una familia.

Thank God I feel good with a lot of energy to go on living and faith to solve my problems. This class is very nice and I feel very happy. When I was a child I never had the opportunity to do this.
Gracias a Dios, me siento bastante bien, con mucho optimismo, para seguir la vida, mucha fe, para resolver todos mis anhelos. En estas clases, estoy muy contenta, pues deseo, aprendar a dibujar, de nina me gustasa pero no tuve la oportunidad, de recibir clases, tan lindas, como las que recibo ahora.

I retired at 62 after working very hard. I come to the Center with other old people and this is good. Everybody is the same and shares the same experience.

I am 76 years old. Two years ago I was very happy because my only son gave me a granddaughter who has given me new hope to continue living with happiness.
Tengo 76 anos y hace dos anos tuve la inmensa dicha de que es mi unico hijo me diera una nieta que es adoracion y me ha dado muchas ilusiones para continuar viviendo con esperanza y alegria.

I am at a perfect age to be a guide. I have no health problems. I still am able to create new things. I am 64.

Milagros Rodriguez, age 73
I feel very good for my age. I started to paint at 65 years old, and I enjoy painting very much. My health is very good, thank the Lord, and if everybody looks for something to do and comes to a place like this, they are never alone because together we have a better life. We can dance, sing, exercise, play bingo, paint and do many more things.
And beautiful people come here and make us feel important.

Miguel Angel Barzaga, age 68
I am 68 years old and I like painting and sculpturing. I am handicapped because of pins placed in my knees. I am grateful with this Center where I have been helped thanks to God and Jesus Christ. I was brought to this place where people treat me like family and where I feel at home.
Yo tengo 68 anos. Se pintar se hacer una figura en barra y dentro de mi incapacidad puedo hacer algunas cosas yo estoy muy agradecido. De dios por lo que me ha ayudado, y por lo que me han ayidado en este centro (Little Havana Activities & Nutrition Center) L.H.A.N.C. que me siento como en familia.
